Why servicing matters

Air conditioning systems work continuously through the summer months and, for systems used for heating, through the winter too. Like any piece of mechanical equipment, they benefit from periodic checks to identify anything that could affect performance or reliability before it becomes a bigger issue.

A servicing visit is not the same as a repair callout. It is a scheduled check of the system's condition, intended to catch early signs of reduced performance and to keep the equipment operating efficiently.

What a servicing visit typically covers

During a service, we inspect and clean filters where accessible, since a blocked filter is one of the most common causes of reduced airflow and poor cooling performance. We also inspect the indoor coil for dust or debris build-up, and check the condensate drainage system for blockages, since a blocked drain can lead to water leaking from the indoor unit.

We carry out operational checks across the system's modes, note temperature readings, and complete a visual inspection of the refrigerant system and its accessible components, along with a visual check of the outdoor unit for debris, damage or restricted airflow around it. We also carry out a visual inspection of accessible electrical connections associated with the system.

What servicing does not automatically include

A standard service is not the same as intrusive refrigerant work, such as opening the refrigerant circuit, and this is not carried out as a matter of course during a routine servicing visit. Where a service identifies a fault that requires further investigation or repair, we will explain what we have found and discuss the options with you separately.

Domestic and commercial servicing

We service both domestic systems, such as bedroom, living room or multi-room installations, and commercial systems in offices, shops and other business premises. Commercial systems used more intensively, or systems supporting server rooms or similar sensitive equipment, may benefit from more frequent attention, which we can discuss based on how the system is used.

Recommendations after a service

Following a service, we provide recommendations based on what was found, whether that is a straightforward note that everything is operating as expected, or a suggestion to monitor a particular component, arrange further investigation, or plan for future maintenance. This gives you a clear picture of the system's condition rather than a generic sign-off.

Keeping systems running well between visits

Between servicing visits, keeping the area around the outdoor unit clear of leaves, debris and overgrown planting helps maintain airflow, and letting us know promptly about any unusual noises, reduced performance or water around the indoor unit allows issues to be looked into sooner rather than later.
